Gelato in Tucson

You scream, I scream, we all scream for ... okay, I'm not screaming for ice cream.  Gelato definitely.  Ice cream, never.

The first time I tasted Gelato I was in Rome.  I was walking to the Piazza Navona and happened by this teeny, tiny little Gelato shop with a line of locals and tourists standing at least a mile long in the heat waiting for the sweet, cool, intense flavor, texture and just plain goodness that only Gelato has.

When the temperatures rise in Tucson, the first thing I think of is beach front property, but the second thing I think of is Gelato.  We have some spectacular Gelato Shops in town.

Peter Miller, owner of Tazzina di Gelato, actually trained in Bologna, Italy.  For the life of me, I can't figure out how he makes authentic Gelato in Tucson that is beyond delicious.  There isn't even a word for it.  Yummylicious comes close.  And then, he comes up with these cool names, like: Not the Wolf Pack, I Swear its Good, Grim Reaper, Dirty Chai,  Death by Chocolate & Unicorns are Real.

So, when the weather gets hot, hot, hot in Tucson, Go for Gelato!  Here are just a few fabulous Gelato Shops in Tucson.  To find more sweets and treats, explore www.wheretraveler.com/tucson   Let me know your favorite!

Cool things to do in Tucson when it is Hot, Hot, Hot!

Although I moved to Tucson from New York when I was turning eleven, I still consider myself a New Yorker.  Okay, an ex-New Yorker, but still a New Yorker.  Why?  Well, when you have parents from Brooklyn with that thick, juicy New York accent and late-night cosmopolitan lifestyle it kind of rubs off on you.

My mother who is turning 95 this year still goes to bed after midnight.   Most times after 1 AM and so do I.  I guess you could say I'm always in  New York State of Mind, even in Tucson.

You know how New York is lovingly called The Big Apple?  When the temperature in Tucson soars to high triple digits, I call my town, The Baked Apple.  And today was no exception.

So what does one do in Tucson when it is HOT, HOT, HOT?

You'll find out when you read my next blog.  How's that for a cliff hanger?  I don't want you to give me the stink eye (a New York thing) for making you wait.... Here's a hint~check out www.wheretraveler.com/tucson for a sneak peak!

Trekking around Tucson

As the publisher of WHERE Magazine and Tucson GuestBook, I explore neighborhoods all over Tucson to discover hidden haunts to delight our visitors.  It's a pretty cool gig! Most of the time I feel like a tourist in my own town.  Tucson.  The Old Pueblo.  Image result for photos of tucson arizona

It is here that I begin my adventure with a little help from my favorite resource:  www.wheretraveler.com/tucson
